D-log Fall Leaves Test

November 6, 2017

I don’t normally shoot in log… but that’ll be changing. It feels pretty weird overexposing a shot on purpose, not being able to see normal colors and constantly thinking, “shit, am I blowing that sky out? It sure looks that way.” Shooting in this profile makes using the histogram absolutely required. I’m guessing it’s a trust/comfort thing though… the more you do it, the easier it gets. Editing and massaging the d-log files takes a bit longer, but man… the flexibility and latitude during post is really worth the extra effort, in my opinion. I briefly screwed around with some LUTs, but it seemed like using Lumetri Color with some RGB curves in Premiere gave me decent enough results.
